For bringing discipline in public transport, they emphasize using new technologies
Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA) Executive Director (Additional Secretary) Neelima Akhtar emphasized on ensuring the use of new technology in new buses, commenting that bringing order to public transport is the need of the hour.
She sought the cooperation of all concerned in a discussion meeting organized in the meeting room of DTCA on Sunday for bus route rationalization and bringing discipline in public transport.
While speaking as the President, Neelima Akhtar said that the piloting program under the bus route rationalization program was not successful in the past. Both routes are still operated by BRTC buses. However, due to the violence of illegal bus owners, we could not provide the expected service.
However, she expressed hope that DTCA will play a decisive and important role in starting disciplined transport in Dhaka city.
The executive director also said that strict action will be taken against buses without route permits and route violations to bring discipline in the public transport sector and training of drivers and assistants will be undertaken in coordination with public and private institutions. Plans for cancellation of defunct routes and new routes will be revised as necessary based on the recommendations prepared by DTCA. Already more than 110 bus stops have been constructed through DNCC and DSCC. If necessary, more bus stops will be identified and constructed, the president said.
The meeting was attended by representatives of BRTA, BRTC, DSCC, DNCC and other related departments/organizations, DTCA officials and representatives of Trust Transport, Borak Paribahan, HR Transport and those who are interested in bus management.
